Popular Apps for Kinders

Over the past school year we've started to compile useful apps for Kindergarten. Here are some of the ones we use most. Please post if you have any others to share.

Stick Pick: A great app that will allow you to get rid of the popsicle sticks on the corner of your desk!

Bob Books: Interactive texts that allows students to develop those basic reading skills. There are 4 levels that allow the student to progress at their own speed (differentiated instruction in your small groups!). Students manipulate letters (initial, middle and ending sounds) to make words.

Sight Words: Students are highly engaged in this sight word app that allows students to read, write and record their own voice.

LetterSchool: Students can practice making upper and lower case letters while learning to start their letters at the top and proper formation.

Handwriting Without Tears: A great way to compliment the Handwriting Without Tears program that is used in some of our school. This program currently has uppercase and numbers. It teaches students to begin letters at the top and proper formation. It allows for reinforcement of these skills by practising it 3 times (wet, dry, try). Great for fine motor development!

Children's Bible: Bible stories.

Fotobabble: Students can take pictures of their "discoveries" or work, and record an audio message to accompany it.

Evernote: A place to document student learning by creating student profiles electronically.
